We are long-term oriented, patient, conservative, forever investors. We care deeply about our reputation. We win if and only if you, our valued acquisition entrepreneur partners, choose to refer us to your searcher friends. To earn this reputation, we are deliberately set up for long-term alignment:

No board seats.

After all, you didn’t leave that 9-5 or venture backed (and board dominated) startup life to report to a board of directors again in a business you own.

No funds with artificial timelines.
We invest in your deal directly off our balance sheet and/or via an SPV or fund vehicle that we control. None of our vehicles for investment have artificial timelines or a need to return capital within 10-12 years as most funds require. Net/net we are intentionally structured to stay in your company as a minority shareholder for 25+ years.
No Drag-along rights.

We will never force you to sell your company. Want to hold it for the next 30 years and hand it off to your kids? Great! We hope you do. Its your company, and we are along for the ride. We have a put option with generous timeline (3-5 years) for you to buy us out slowly over time off the cash flow of the business at a 3rd party appraised valuation if we decide for some reason we need to get out, but that would be the exception, not the norm, and we’ve never exercised this option and hope to never need to do it. We prefer to be your partner forever.

Network.

Invite to our annual summit, a leading gathering in the ETA space including our investor group, and peer Acquisition Entrepreneurs inside and outside of our portfolio. We also include you in a peer Acquisition Entrepreneur CEO group that we establish for you to share best practices so you aren’t on your own. We even do your books and finance functions for you and ensure you are always one step ahead on working capital needs. We significantly derisk your chance of failure from our capital, to our back-office support and network value-add. You will also receive access to all of our proprietary content and networking opportunities provided by our industry leading self-funded searcher accelerator, Acquisition Lab (which otherwise costs $10,000).

Perks & Discounts.

Given our scale (we are financing 1-2 acquisitions/month), our in-house loan brokerage team at SMB Edge helps you achieve special rates from banks we work with for your SBA(7a) loan, saving you significantly on what is often your largest expense lite item (loan interest over a 10+ year term), along with numerous other discounts from preferred vendors (think Ramp, Hubspot, AWS and more).

Back-office support.

We’ve bought and run many businesses ourselves. We know that SMB owners spend 30-40% of their time on back office and administrative work, and its our goal to give you back as much of that time as possible. Our super power is SMB Edge, our home grown back-office team that offers white glove support to all of our portfolio companies. We handle your Finance and Accounting functions, take care of Tax, IT, HR, Website, SEM and SEO marketing for you. All of our services are optional (except for accounting, where we ensure its done correctly with on time closes, for your benefit). We’ve developed best in class practices through businesses we have built and or acquired and brought in house to SMB Edge to give you super powers far beyond our initial check.
